DEPARTMENTAL NEWS, 2007-2008
- New Faculty: The department welcomes Peter Olofsson. Check his web pages for more information.
- Putnam Exam: Twelve students braved the annual Putnam Exam in December of 2007. The high Trinity scorer was Mark Girard with 20 points.
Mark comprised one third of Trinity's team this year, which ranked 90th out of 413 schools. The other team members were John Weber and David Stuck.
- Modeling Competition: Trinity had 2 teams of 3 compete in the annual COMAP modeling competition in February of 2008.
One team earned an honorable mention (top 27%).

- John Weber was accepted into the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Program for the Spring of 2008.
- Timothy Nunmaker was an HHMI student over the summer working in the area of systems biology. See the associated poster
INDIVIDUAL FACULTY NEWS
- Dr. E. Cabral Balreira’s article "Foliations and Global Inversion" was accepted for publication in Commentarii Mathematici Helvetici.
He has given a few seminar lectures on the Topic at the Universidade Federal do Ceará in the summer of 2007. He will give a talk at the
2008 Spring Southeastern Meeting of the AMS at LSU.
- Saber Elaydi has been busy completing the second edition of Discrete Chaos and launching the new Journal of Biological Dynamics, for which he is
co-Editor-in-Chief. He further continues as Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Difference Equations and Applications.
