Student Organizations

There are two main student organizations in the Mathematics Department. The Trinity University Mathematics Society (TUMS) is a service and social organization dedicated to maintaining and developing interest in mathematics. Its activities include sponsoring a weekly series of activities during the National Mathematics Awareness Week, participation in intramural sports, organizing social events, etc. In addition, career information is made available through sponsored speakers and printed or taped presentations.

Trinity Mathematical Modeling Group (TMMG) sponsors activities related to applied mathematics. Every year, teams from the group participate in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) which is an international competition. Other activities include organizing social events, and participation in the National Mathematics Awareness Week.

Other opportunities for students include participating in the international Putnam Mathematics Competition and the Problem Solving Group.
